Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 26, 2026
Hausbound (“we,” “us”) helps you plan and track home renovation projects. This policy explains what information we collect, why, where it goes, and the choices you have. The short version: your data exists to run your projects; we don't sell it, and we don't use the contents of your emails or photos for anything except the features you asked for.
Information you give us
- Account: your name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash; we never see or store the plain password). If you turn on two-factor authentication, we also store the setup key and backup codes needed to verify your sign-in codes.
- Home & project data: home nickname, move-in date, rooms and features you describe, project plans, checklists, item prices and order details, budgets, room measurements, paint colors, to-dos, and notes.
- Forwarded emails: when you forward an order confirmation to your personal Hausbound Mailbox address (or set up auto-forwarding), we store the email and parse it to update your checklist: order status, tracking numbers, delivery estimates, retailer names. Email contents are used only for this feature. We never send tracking pixels in the emails we send you.
- Photos & documents: inspiration photos, receipts, inspection photos, and documents you upload or capture. Depending on your plan, photos are stored in our cloud storage or kept on your device.
- Professional contacts: contractor and vendor details you choose to keep on file.
Information collected automatically
- Usage events: basic product analytics (e.g. that a feature was used) tied to your account, used to improve the product. We do not use third-party advertising analytics on your project data.
- Crash reports: if the app crashes, a diagnostic report (device model, OS version, stack trace) is sent to Sentry so we can fix it.
- Advertising: the app does not currently display third-party ads. If advertising is introduced on the free tier in a future update, it may use Google AdMob subject to your device's ad-tracking settings, and paid plans would remain ad-free; we will update this policy before any such change.
- Retailer link clicks: some retailer links are affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure). When you click one, we log the click with an anonymous identifier, the retailer, and the search term, never your name or email, and the retailer's affiliate network sets its own cookie in your browser to attribute the purchase. We do not share your project data with retailers or networks.
Where your data goes (service providers)
We use a small set of processors to run Hausbound. Each receives only what it needs:
- Supabase: database and file storage (projects, photos, documents).
- Vercel: application hosting.
- Mailgun: receives email you forward to your Hausbound Mailbox and delivers the transactional email we send you (password resets, setup guides).
- Sentry: crash and error reports.
- Google AdMob: ads in the free mobile app.
- Apple App Store / Google Play: process all purchases. We receive purchase receipts to unlock features; we never see your card details.
- Shipping carriers: tracking numbers from your orders are checked against carrier tracking services to update delivery status.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Sharing you control
If you invite a co-homeowner or contractor to a project, they can see the project data that the collaboration feature grants them (checklists, dates, notes, photos on that project). Revoking a collaborator ends their access.
Professional profiles & reviews
- When you save a professional contact or invite a professional to a project, we may assemble a provisional professional profile from the information you entered (name, business name, email address, and professional category). Provisional profiles are internal records that power our Professionals features; they are never publicly visible.
- Professionals can claim their profile in the app using a verified email that matches the profile, then correct their information or unpublish their page at any time. Professionals can also claim, correct, or remove their profile by contacting customersupport@hausbound.com.
- A professional's page appears publicly only after they claim the profile and choose to publish it. Profiles that were never published are not publicly visible.
- Published pages show only content the claimed professional provided, plus reviews written by homeowners who worked with them on a verified project. Reviews appear publicly only with the reviewer's consent, labeled with a generic project type (e.g. “Kitchen renovation”), never your project's name or address.
- Reviews are moderated, and professionals can respond publicly to a review or report it for moderation.
Retention & deletion
- Your data is kept while your account is active so your home's record stays useful across projects.
- You can delete individual items (photos, documents, imports, projects) at any time in the app.
- You can request full account deletion in Settings → Account (or by emailing us). Deletion removes your account and associated data from our production systems; residual copies in encrypted backups age out on a rolling basis.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest with our providers. Passwords are hashed. Database access is protected by row-level security, and optional two-factor authentication is available on every account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can exercise most of these directly in the app (checklist CSV export, account deletion), or email us and we'll help: customersupport@hausbound.com.
Children
Hausbound is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
YouTube API Services (Hausbound Scheduler)
Hausbound Scheduler is our internal publishing tool. It uses YouTube API Services to upload and manage videos on Hausbound's own YouTube channel, on the channel owner's instruction. It is not offered to the public and it never touches another person's YouTube account. By connecting a YouTube channel to it, the channel owner agrees to the YouTube Terms of Service and acknowledges the Google Privacy Policy.
- What it accesses: the connected channel's name and id, the videos it uploads (title, description, tags, thumbnail, privacy status) and, for the channel's own videos, view and watch-time analytics.
- What it stores: the Google authorization token needed to publish, the channel id, and the record of what was scheduled and posted. This lives on a server we operate, encrypted at rest, and is kept only while the channel stays connected. Video files are ours and are stored only until each upload completes.
- What it shares: nothing. YouTube data is not sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or combined with other data.
- Revoking access: disconnect the channel inside the tool, or remove Hausbound Scheduler from your Google account at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. Either one deletes the stored token; the remaining records are deleted on request to customersupport@hausbound.com.
More about the tool: hausbound.com/scheduler.
TikTok (Hausbound Scheduler)
Hausbound Scheduler can post videos to a TikTok account that its user has connected through TikTok's Login Kit. It posts only when that user fills in the posting form and presses the button, with the visibility and interaction settings they chose there.
- What it accesses: the connected account's basic profile (display name, username, avatar), the account's posting settings (which visibility levels are available, whether comments, duet and stitch are allowed), the account's totals (followers, likes, video count) and, for the account's own videos, view counts.
- What it stores: the TikTok authorization token needed to post, the account id, and the record of what was posted. Video files uploaded through the poster are kept only until the post is sent to TikTok, then deleted. Everything lives on a server we operate, encrypted at rest, and only while the account stays connected.
- What it shares: nothing. TikTok data is not sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or combined with other data.
- Revoking access: press "Disconnect TikTok" on the poster, which deletes the stored token, or remove Hausbound Scheduler in TikTok under Settings and privacy, Security and permissions, Apps and services. Remaining records are deleted on request to customersupport@hausbound.com.
Hausbound uses the Pinterest API in two ways. A user may link their own Pinterest account to import the pins of one of their boards into a project's inspiration board, or to share a progress card to a board they choose. Separately, Hausbound Scheduler posts Hausbound's own renovation videos and guides as pins on the Hausbound business account, on a schedule; it never posts to a user's account.
- What it accesses: for a linked user, the names of their boards and, for the board they pick, that board's pins (title, description, image, link). For the Hausbound account, its boards, pins and pin statistics.
- What it stores: the Pinterest authorization token for the linked account, refreshed as Pinterest requires, the account id, imported pin images and text on the user's own inspiration board, and the record of what the Scheduler posted. Tokens live on a server we operate, encrypted at rest, and only while the account stays linked.
- What it shares: nothing. Pinterest data is not sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or combined with other data.
- Revoking access: remove Hausbound in Pinterest under Settings, Security and logins, Connected apps, which stops every further request, or ask us to delete the link and any remaining records at customersupport@hausbound.com.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the date above, and for significant changes we'll notify you in the app or by email.
